DISSEMINATION OF TEACHER TRAINING SEMINARS 9/4/2024

On Wednesday, September 4, 2024,  the dissemination of the educational seminars attended by eight teachers of the school during the summer took place. The diffusion launched the first interactive whiteboard placed in a school room. First, videos from the seminars were presented, followed by photos from the program's website .

The first seminar took place in Lisbon, Portugal on July 15 – 19, 2024. Three professors participated and the topic was : “ Introducing Sustainability Through Game-Based Learning and Gamification ”.  Innovative forms of learning based on educational games were introduced, turning the lesson into a more interesting process. A good practice from the seminar is the application and implementation of a very interesting game, " Goosechase ", a hidden treasure game that could be applied not only to the learning process but also to the implementation needs of European programs. In general, the teachers collaborated with other European colleagues, participated in experiential actions and created the foundations for future collaborations.

The dissemination was followed by the 2nd mobility which took place in Helsinki, Finland 29/7-2/8/2024 with the theme " Environmental Education: Learning and Acting for a Better Future "
In the mobility participated three teachers who, among other things, referred to the main points of education system of Finland in which the audience also showed particular interest. Particular emphasis was placed on the preparatory year in which all students attend before their admission to primary education, the choice of Lyceum by application and according to the degree of graduation from the nine-year, compulsory education. In addition, he referred to the summer work program of the graduates of compulsory education before entering the general or technical high school.

Next, the activities of the seminar were mentioned, which were aimed at cultivating environmental awareness. Initially, focusing on the first activity, an impression was made by the large number of cigarette butts located in a small building block and in a seemingly spotless city. Then information was given on the rest of the activities during which the useless recyclable materials were studied how they can be transformed into useful objects, the usefulness of the lego game for the consolidation of green practices, the effects of fast fashion how it affects the thinking of modern man and the promotion of second hand and the exchange of material goods " One person's trash, another person's treasure ".

Very important was the visit and activity in the imposing Oodi library, which in essence is a multi-space accessible to everyone regardless, with corners for socializing or self-concentration, reading or playing, creating and building and incredible logistical equipment. It is a space that promotes equality, acceptance and inclusion. At the end the cultural part was mentioned with highlights being the outdoor history museum in Tallinn (a good practice we would like to implement in our school), the imposing rock church, and the outdoor market. In addition, the usefulness of the sauna, which is a key part of Finns' everyday life, and traditional Finnish meals were highlighted.

The third seminar on "
Stress  Management " was attended by two teachers on August 5-9, 2024 in Tenerife, Spain. An excellent seminar on managing stress and dealing with difficult situations that a teacher experiences in and out of the classroom. The first step is to understand stressful situations and then develop strategies to manage and deal with them properly ( notice name navigate
).

Some key tips for implementing these strategies in our daily routine is to look for moments where we will listen to the signals our body is sending. We can put a reminder in the kitchen, in the bathroom, in the office until it becomes a good habit. We need to connect with our body and senses, name our feelings and needs. Need awareness is one of the most powerful long-term stress management strategies.

Finally, practicing gratitude is also very important. Only in this way will one be able to absorb the good things and memories to turn them into sustainable experiences.

SPREADING GROUP MOBILITIES AND JOB SHADOWING TO TEACHERS

On Thursday, June 20, 2024, the participating teachers in this year's mobilities shared their experience, the positives and negatives and the good practices they saw in the countries they visited with your teachers from our school and also with teachers from other schools after a friendly invitation.

The presentation was made in chronological order of the movements during the year and not by program section. Initially, the videos that the students had prepared were shown and then the participating teachers took the floor with a simultaneous display of the website of the program or presentation that they had prepared for that day.

The event was welcomed by the coordinator of the program, Ms. Dimitra Dobrou, emphasizing how important this year was and how many opportunities were given to students and teachers (32 students and 14 teachers) to participate in the Erasmus+ KA1 accreditation program.

The presentations started with the reception of September  25-29/9/2023  to remind and compare with the rest of the mobilities.

Followed by the 1st mobility at  IES MIGUEL ROMERO ESTEO     in Malaga, Spain  13-17/11/2023.  Then the mobility participant Ms. Ioanna Karakassiou took the floor, pointing out how impressed she was by two things:
1. The doors of the classrooms remained open during the lesson, as there was silence during the educational process.

2. It was possible for the teacher to use a mouthpiece to make it louder in class.

Then the mobility at the Max-Plank-Gymnasium school in Ludwigshafen, Germany 4-8/12/2023 was presented by the participating teacher Ms. Chrysoula Parousis who underlined, among other things, "... in Germany the students were given the opportunity to see up close the BASF factory, which is the largest chemical factory in the world and to get to know the purely industrial city  of Ludwigshafen as it was formed after the great destruction caused by the bombings of World War 2.
The waste management of the city was impressive, where nothing is left unexploited but they take care of their recycling to produce electricity..."

Third in chronological order was the mobility at Liceo Scientifico Statale C.Peano in Monterotondo, Italy 18-22/3/2024. The speech was taken by the director of the school, Mr. Dimitrios Papadopoulos, who also participated in the mobility. After the presentation of the video, he mentioned how hospitable his Italian colleagues and parents were who drove an hour unprofitably to take them to and from the airport. Even during the mobility, strong bonds of friendship were created between teachers and students. It is characteristic that the participating students in the mobility, although they had hosted in September, wanted to offer a second hosting to the students of Italy in April 2024.
The presentation was completed by Ms. Siopi who participated in the program with the job shadow action, commenting: " ...The teaching at the school in Monterotondo was teacher-centered. The teachers delivered the lesson face-to-face, without organizing cooperative learning models. The teaching was done using interactive tables, the lesson content was not accompanied by the corresponding worksheets and the interaction between teachers and students. I was impressed that the students were handing over their cell phones upon entering the room and placing them numerically in folding cases..."

On the same dates, the movement took place in Pamplona, Spain  18-22/3/2024  after it coincided with that of Italy. We are fortunate that the two movements took place in a week in which Holy Monday and March 25, 1821 were celebrated, so that the smooth running of the school was not disrupted.

This is where the philologist Ms. Vicky Lazaridou took the floor, who participated in the job shadow action, spotting ". ..at the entrance of the school there is a sign that prohibits jockey hats, mobile phones and headphones. The classrooms look like ours, but they have 2 blackboards: a chalkboard and an interactive touch one. The teaching is teacher-centered, with lots of questions from the students... "

Last featured was the mobility  Zaklagna Skola Ulika Vajanskeho  in Lucenec, Slovakia  13-17/5/2024  which took place in the last week of classes. Ms. Anastasia Livanou and Pelagia Saltamara shared their experience with the other teachers who had

prepare a small presentation for this day. Among other things, Ms. Livanou described " ...they emphasize cleanliness, that's why students and teachers wore sabos or slippers and groups of students cleaned the courtyard area every week. Among the negative impressions, I submit the long-hour educational visit to the Biogas Power Station where, due to the unpleasant smell the students did not attend."

The presentation was completed by Ms. Saltamara who participated as a job shadow. Among other things, he emphasized the following " ...I really liked the original board they had. It was a whiteboard and the blackboard was closed with shutters on top. It also went up and down in height, so important for students and teachers! In addition, many children in their chairs had cushions to make them sit more comfortably. The students had the workbook open on their desk, the teacher pointed to the specific page they were working on in the book on the interactive whiteboard. He wrote the correct answers on the interactive so they didn't keep asking if they didn't hear well. Also, the students had lockers with their personal items, something very useful!..."

A short break followed...

...
and then answers were given to the questions-questions of the attending teachers of the other schools regarding the accreditation, how it was achieved, the organization and the finances of the mobilities.
