           ATTEND A SEMINAR TITLE:
                                     "Stress Management"
Participating teachers: Dimitra Dombrou, Philologist & Chrysoula Parousi, English Philology

SUNDAY 4/8/2024

We met at the "Macedonia" airport early in the morning to begin our journey to Tenerife. Full of enthusiasm and prepared for the long journey, the last movement within the framework of
Erasmus Accreditation began. First stop, Athens and second stop Vienna.

After many hours we arrived in the afternoon at the southern airport of Tenerife and from there by bus we arrived in the city of
Puerto de la Cruz , where our hotel was.

MONDAY 5/8/2024

On the first day of the ERASUS program , our trainer, Berca Wojcik , welcomed us with a warm welcome with drinks, coffee and other refreshments, followed by some activities to get to know the other participants.

Initially we stood in the area where one would find our country on the continent of Europe, where we found that most of the participants came from Central Europe. We then introduced ourselves and played a get-to-know-you game to further break the ice. We stood in two rows facing each other and were given five minutes to answer a question. At five minutes we changed pairs until we talked to everyone. The questions were of the type "Why did you choose this course in Tenerife?", "What was your first job?", "What characteristic do you consider to be positive about you?", etc.

Then the instructor presented us with some basic concepts and how stress works in the human body.

We asked ourselves what we would like to have achieved by the end of the course, and the course ended with an activity at the Tenerife Botanical Garden where we had to answer the 7 "Whys?", starting with the question "Why did you choose to take the Stress courses Management in Tenerife?' Each question was more difficult to answer and the purpose of the activity was to reach our deepest needs or beliefs and gain self-awareness.

One of the most impressive trees in the botanical garden was the one shown in the photo with its main characteristic being that its branches grow horizontally but also vertically downwards where they re-root in the ground.

In the afternoon we visited the spectacular Bollulo beach covered in black volcanic sand. This sand makes the beaches of Tenerife unique, and is used by the locals to create unique souvenirs and postcards.

TUESDAY 6/8/2024

Our day started with exercises and a strengthening workshop , where we tried to listen and listen to our body in relation to the surrounding space, with the five senses and the so-called grounding , and to distance ourselves from thoughts, fears or our expectations.

Using the five senses method , we tried to identify 5 objects of the same color and name them, 4 sounds, 3 different textures, 2 smells and a taste.

With the method of Earthing , we practiced the ability to find security and stability from the surrounding space through the posture of the body, feeling the support of the chair, the wall or any other surface available to us, in order to discharge the anxiety that causes us a conversation or situation in our space.

Finally, the autonomic nervous system and the Polyvagal theory of the Three Zones were presented , and the importance of its regulation, which we can achieve either by ourselves or with help, was emphasized.

In the afternoon we visited the wonderful traditional town of La Laguna , which is under the protection of UNESCO

We walked through the wide pedestrian streets with the shops, cafes and characteristic buildings with different bright colors, which make
La Laguna colorful and special. The huge trees in the squares and in front of their churches are also characteristic, with the so-called " drag tree " occupying a dominant position, as it is considered a symbol of their place.

WEDNESDAY 7/8/2024

The class started today at the Botanical Garden of Puerto de la Cruz , with a new exercise called " Mindful Walking ". Taking a walk alone through the garden, we focused our attention on the space around us using our five senses, noticing the colors, textures of plants, smells, and sounds and always keeping in mind how they make us feel .
The purpose of this exercise is to practice the use of the five senses so that we learn to use them whenever we feel stressed, and to get rid of thoughts and self-criticism so that we can bring our body to rest and achieve emotional balance.

Then he presented us with the theory of the Three Stages ( Three Stages theory ), HAVE ENRICH ABSORB , where we accept the challenge, get rid of  prejudices or other thoughts that influence our judgment, and draw strength from the energy and sense of stability that comes from the ourselves.

We returned to the Institute where we worked on the 6 Fs Stress Responses , i.e. the 6 different ways of manifesting stress that we can recognize in ourselves, our students or others.

In particular, we react with flight, anger, the offer of our friendship to people we consider a threat, the temporary lack of reaction to stressful factors and seemingly smooth continuation of our activity, the freezing and inability to react but also to continue our activity, and finally the submission with manifestations of excessive receptivity.

This was followed by a " salsa " dance lesson , where we were given the opportunity to get to know a part of the local culture.

In the afternoon we explored Puerto de la Cruz and walked through its enchanting pedestrian streets and colorful alleys with palm trees dominating next to parks and hotel units. A particular impression was made by the park designed by the architect Costa Martinez for its special architectural style and excellent taste.

THURSDAY 8/8/2924

On Thursday the class started with the presentation of useful self relief and self regulation practices and exercises , where we listen to our breathing, embrace ourselves by gently clapping our arms, massage our ears, and put hands on face covering our eyes.

Then we learned about the differentiation method for managing stress, where we distinguish between 1) critical observation and simply recording facts, 2) thinking and feeling, 3) strategy we follow and need we have, and 4) demand and request . All this was realized with the presentation of the different vocabulary we use for each case. This is how we learned to separate sensations from our feelings and needs.

The workshop Journaling everyday self empathy " followed. The purpose is to learn to recognize the criticism that is usually behind the source of our anxiety, and to deal with it.

The lessons ended with a yoga lesson , where we understood the importance of taking care of ourselves and safeguarding our mental health.

In the afternoon we visited the impressive swimming pools built on the rocks of the beach of Puerto de la Cruz , which work with sea water and are harmoniously tied to the natural environment and the rocks.

FRIDAY 9/8/2024

Our day started with relaxing grounding and self-regulation exercises and we were asked to answer a course evaluation questionnaire by the instructor herself. Then he presented us with more sources and literature on stress management methods and stress management theory .

We said our goodbyes by opening a glass of champagne with our new friends and fellow travelers on this journey of self-awareness, and of course we also took commemorative photos.

In the afternoon we visited the capital of the island, Santa Cruz . Skyscrapers and colorful apartment buildings blended harmoniously with the city's long streets, wide sidewalks, exotic trees, impressive squares and shops and cafes.

SATURDAY 10/8/2024

Today we went on a tour with a guide to some characteristic traditional villages of Tenerife, and the Teide mountain park , where there is an active volcano with three different foci.

First we walked through the alleys of
Icod de los Vinos , and saw the island's oldest dragon tree , which is estimated to be around 800 years old.

Then we made a stop at
Garachico . The town was colorfully decorated for the festive days ahead, and we saw the magnificent natural pools created 300 years ago when Teide erupted and lava flowed into the town, changing the beach's morphology.

Next stop was Masca , a mountain village with cobbled streets, souvenir shops, cafes offering traditional Tenerife coffee, and a spacious square in the shade of a huge tree.

Here is also a rock called the small Machu Pichu, because of its resemblance.

Finally, we arrived at the Teide park, we took a walk among the impressive rocks created by the lava. We returned to the hotel full of impressive images from a different world, and new experiences.

In the afternoon we tried the traditional tapas of the place.

SUNDAY

Sunday morning we tried the traditional coffee of Tenerife and took a last walk.

With a lot of emotion and full of beautiful landscapes and new experiences, we said goodbye to Tenerife with its wild landscapes, its hospitable people and its delicious food.

                 HELSINKI JULY 29-AUGUST 2, 2024

Attending a seminar on:

"Environmental Education: Learning and Acting for a Better Future"

On Saturday 27/7/2024 early in the morning, the group of three teachers of the school, consisting of the director Dimitris Papadopoulos, the mathematician Elisavet Miliadou and the physical education teacher Styliani Lalaga, left for Helsinki, Finland. The purpose of the trip is to attend a higher education seminar.

The 3 hour 20 minute flight was great. The appearance of the land of Finland from above did not at all resemble the Greek relief. It was flat and characterized by the existence of many forests and lakes.

Upon our arrival

we used the public transport train and tram in order to go to our place of accommodation.

We walked around our neighborhood. A coffee stop was a must. Typical was the structure that existed outside the entrance of the apartment buildings for cleaning shoes. It reminded us of our own podomatres!

We passed by a mini market to buy basic products. There we saw Greek products at high prices.

The day continued with a tour of a part of the city harbor where there was an open air market something like our own folk market and kiosks with classic, traditional Finnish dishes.

So we were given the opportunity to try salmon, reindeer meatballs and lake fish, all delicious.

This was followed by a walk in the closed market where traditional and non-traditional products were the priority.
The presence of the Greek halva surprised us but also made us happy!

Characteristically the high prices on almost all products.
We returned to our place of accommodation on foot and were impressed by the crowded streets with people walking or relaxing with their friends on the lawn. Let's not forget that it was a Saturday and one of the months that could enjoy the sun and the heat.

SUNDAY 28/7/2024

On Sunday 28/7 knowing that the whole day would be ours we organized a day trip to Tallinn, Estonia, a trip very often made by both Finns and tourists as the ferry crossing time is only 2 hours. The old town of Tallinn with cobbled streets is an OYNESKO cultural heritage monument .
So, we woke up early in the morning to go to the port. Our ticket was for the 7.30 ferry. We checked in very  easily, went up to the waiting area where we could see it

harbor from above and we comfortably boarded the ship. First, we explored it and while sailing we stayed at its stern to enjoy the view of the city of Helsinki from the sea.

The 2 hour drive was spent relatively quickly studying the Tallinn city map. Disembarked, we saw the swing bridge for boats to cross and headed into the old town.

Our tour started at St. Olaf's church which was built in the 12th century and named after the Norwegian king Olaf V. We went inside and listened to the chants and after we were rested we decided to climb the 258 steps and enjoy the theme of Tallinn from above. A pain in Elizabeth's leg prevented her from following us.

The steps were relatively high, their step narrow while the whole staircase was circular. We had support from a rope that was on the
edge of the wall and had the role of a handrail. When someone came down we had to stand aside to

passed which made our ascent quite difficult but we did not regret it. Truly the 360 degree view of the city was amazing. We noticed how densely populated the

old town, we saw its perimeter moat and the castle of the beginning of the era. We noticed that as long as he could see our gaze, there was not a trace of hill or mountain on the horizon. Is Estonia a flat country too?
The modern city was more sparsely populated with a dozen or so skyscrapers emerging.
When the number of tourists found in the area started to increase and because the passage was very narrow we decided to go down. The descent was easier, but again with caution.

Then we visited the  Cathedral of Saint Mary which is located on Toumbea Hill. The church was founded by the Danes in the 13th century and is the only building in the wider area that survived the devastating fire of 1684.
We entered the St. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, a beautiful Russian church.

We passed by Town Hall Square which is the center of the old town, with dozens of small and large shops, cafes and restaurants while the buildings that surround it are colorful!

At 12.00 we sat down for coffee at the oldest pastry shop in the area in the city.

Followed by our guided tour of the history of Estonia in an outdoor museum. A good practice that we wanted to adopt.

until we reached the Viru Gate.  Viru Gate was built around the 14th century, as part of Tallinn's fortifications.

The 2 towers of the gate are what remained after it was demolished in order for the carriages and the horse-drawn tram to pass. These two towers actually mark the entrance to the old town. The pedestrian street of the same name ends at the Viru Gate,  which is one of the busiest in the old town,  full of shops, restaurants and cafes.

Arriving at the gate we decided to take a public transit and see the modern city of Tallinn. We bought one-hour e-tickets and randomly got on tram 4. We got to the end of it and on the way back we got off at the park next to the old town.

From there we walked to the Rottermann district a picturesque district of old characteristic brick buildings. Very likely it was a working town in the past judging by the chimneys.

From there we walked to the port where we entered a supermarket. Product prices are noticeably lower in Tallinn than in Helsinki. In two and a half hours we were back at the accommodation to rest.

MONDAY 29/7/2024

We started around 8.15 in the morning on foot to the place where the seminars would take place. Although we arrived earlier our "classmates" were already there. We started on time. Our instructor, Mia Torttila in the name, a young Finnish woman with a master's degree in England, introduced herself and then one by one introduced themselves.
The composition of the team: 3 colleagues from Italy, 3 from Germany, 3 from the Czech Republic, 1 from Hungary, 1 from France, 1 from Croatia and 3 from Greece. Total 15.

The program of the day.

We played a game of questions to break the ice and get to know each other better. "Find someone who..."

He then informed us about Finland and what we can do and see. We also learned what Moomins are. It is a children's cartoon series that generations and generations have grown up with and is a mascot for Finns.

This was followed by the presentation of the schools and the regions. We started first...

Elizabeth spoke and introduced Hortiatis. Our Director the school and Styliani ERASMUS. At the same time, a video about Thessaloniki and one about our school GEL HORTIATI were presented . We have informed that the song accompanying the school video is a composition of students of our school which won 1st place in the European School Radio song contest 2022.
The presentations of the others followed.

The first day ended with an activity in which, divided into groups of 3 people, we had to answer the following questions.

Divided into threes we worked on it.

After a short lunch we returned to rest.

In the afternoon we walked to the center, had a coffee at ALLAS SEA POOL, continued our walk making a big circle.

We passed the Protestant church of the Germans, a large park with trees and continued our long circle to our house. It rained heavily on our way for 5 minutes. It's incredible how quickly and often the weather changes!

TUESDAY 20/7/2024

Today in the seminar we were first informed about the education system of Finland. Compulsory education is 9 years and includes 6 classes in primary school and 3 in lower secondary school (high school).

We were impressed by the preparatory year before primary school. Students start Grade A at the age of 7. There are no special education teachers in elementary school, only in high school. Students continue to high school upon application of desire. In the application, they state the high school they wish to attend, always calculating the number of admissions and their score.
The seminar was attended by a student who had just graduated from high school. He worked at the agency during the summer months as part of an organized youth employment program. She shared her experience of the education system with us.

This was followed by an update and discussion about plastic pollution and how serious the situation is worldwide.

To figure it out we were split into 3 groups of 5 people and we went around of the surrounding area to record the discarded litter-garbage that we would find on the street and sidewalks in a seemingly spotless city.

Each group added their results in a bar graph or a circle and will present them…

The day's seminar ended with one more Approach: Art Education activity. Divided into 5 groups of 3, we chose from the recyclable waste we had brought with us and created works of art which we presented giving the title and description.

Thus, a doll, a smoking case, a bird's nest, an orchestra and a family were made.

With this activity we can instill in our students that we do not trample on materials, but that through "garbage" we can create.

Then we had lunch and at 15.00 our tour guide Richard was waiting for us at the Annantalo building opposite the seminars. This building was the first co-educational school in Helsinki in the 70s that now functions as an art center.
From there we walked and entered the Kampi shopping center which is located where the Swedish camp used to be. We didn't see a single photo! Probably because the people of Finland don't want to remember that specific period.

Then we went outside to the square where the Jewish market was.
We saw the outdoor exhibition.
The statue of the leader of the Finnish army during World War II

The tree that came from a branch of the oldest tree in Helsinki.

We passed by the train station which is a landmark in the center of the City. In Art Nouveau rhythm and national romantic style while its construction was completed in 1914.
From there we found ourselves in another shopping center which houses the university building that operates for student entertainment.

Through the shopping center we came out on a pedestrian street with prints. It is a mystery to mathematicians, even today, how the pattern was made!

At the end of the pedestrian street dominates the Swedish theatre. We walked to the first street of the city that led to the sea, we went up to the cathedral, we saw the old town hall, the presidential office, the university building and there the tour ended.

From there we decided to visit the church in the Kallio district to hear the bells at 18.00 playing a Sibelius melody. The great Finnish composer Jan Sibelius (1865-1957) is a huge asset to the Finns
.

On the way down we stopped for coffee and came back to rest.

WEDNESDAY 31/7/2024

From today until the end of the week, the class hours are 14.00-19.00

So, taking advantage of our mornings, we visited the rock church. A circular rock structure. The church is built in a rocky natural environment. From the outside you can't tell what it is. Only the rocks and a small part of the dome are visible.

The circular hollow volume of stones was used, which was covered by an artificial dome resting on long narrow windows, giving at the same time natural light to the interior of the church.

The church of the rocks

In addition to being a place of worship, it is also used as a venue for events.

From there we proceeded to the square. Openings and squares everywhere. On our way we often came across metal boxes apparently for electricity, painted. Here is another good practice that can easily be applied to us as well. Which we applied in parts to the beautification of our school before the reception of the cooperating schools.

We saw the outdoor exhibition again and visited the church of silence. We toured the city until it was time for class.

The subject of today's lesson is biodiversity and its conservation. We watched 3 videos and then studied how we can turn our school into an  eco - friendly school. Essentially we had 20 minutes to record what we have done so far and to plan activities. In the end we presented them.
More specifically, we mentioned that in our school, as part of the Erasmus+ Accreditation, we have planted fruit trees and this year we are collecting the first fruits, we created a botanical garden, we participate in the "follow green" program of our Pylaia-Hortiatis municipality, and all the students and teachers of the school were informed about the types of recycling by the pedagogic team of Erasmus students. The future plans are the creation of nests for birds, the vertical cultivation of lettuce with the use of photovoltaics, the study-research of the students participating in the Erasmus pedagogical group on the use of alternative forms of energy in order to raise awareness among citizens and the Municipality and to transform the school us in green!

Action followed in the  Oodli library . First, we stood outside where our instructor told us a few words about the library and the square we were in. The square is the big Kansalaistori square, the busiest. In the square is the parliament and across from it is the library. Their balconies are on the same level as a symbol of democracy and dialogue!

An impressive library and more. Essentially, it is a three-level multi-space where people gather who want to spend their free time creatively either to play board games, chess, etc., to create by making objects, to sew and engage in many activities or to read.
Our instructor, after dividing us into groups, gave us questions and instructions for our activity in the library area. In order to complete the activity we toured the entire building.
An unlikely place where on the ground floor there was the secretariat, the cafeteria, the lunch buffet and several chess tables. Youth meeting place. In the mezzanine they can study their lessons, play video games or hang out with their friends.
On the 2nd floor there were artificial bleachers where groups sat and played, read or talked very quietly. Also, on this floor there were 3D printers, computers, construction rooms,
sewing, meetings, kitchen to cook with your friends, playstation, isolation rooms for those who wanted to work alone, rooms for rehearsals, musical instruments that can be borrowed, to write and record music and virtual reality glasses, etc.

And finally on the 3rd floor was the library and reading room which was built sloping so that disabled people or mothers with prams could access it. There was also room for small children to read on a carpet.

Carrying out the activity assigned to us, we came across the Oodi library. In general, the whole structure was impressive and accessible to all, which was confirmed by the words written on the circular stairs, as well as its free use by all!!! That is why it is considered a symbol of equality!!!

Finishing up, we captured the parliament buildings, the Kiasma art museum and the square with photos.

We returned excited and full of experiences.

Thursday 1/8/2024
Morning awakening and getting ready for a walk in Helsinki.  We took the tram to the well-known  Cafe Regatta for coffee and traditional sweets.

On a pole we saw bird nests which we photographed as it will be the next project we wish to implement.

The outside toilet of the shop was impressive. Decorated with all kinds of objects, you would never imagine that it has such a role.

Just before coffee we found ourselves in
Sibelius Park. The park is named after the composer Jan Sibelius. The great composer Jan Sibelius (1865-1957) is a huge asset for Finland. Within this park, the Sibelius monument occupies a prominent position - since 1960. It is a project consisting of -over- 600 steel tubes and is made by Eila Hiltunen.

Next we visited the
impressive Uspensky Church.
It is an orthodox church which is also the seat of the metropolis of Finland .
Having time, we walked towards the north-east side of the city where many works were being done. On our way we met the Greek embassy.
And until it was time for the lesson we took a ride on the tram. We walked to the port where we took the ferry to Tallinn and returned to the center.

At 14:00 the first part of the seminar started where we had to see where some of the clothes we wore were made, what material they are made of and how many kilometers it traveled to reach us.
In the second part the topic was
climate Justine . We were divided into 4 groups of 4 people. We had to build  lego  cities. Two groups had to show the worst consequences of climate change while the other two the  best scenarios.

The scenarios were generated from a random selection of 5 cards. Afterwards, each group had to find ways, the first how to improve the situation in their city and the second how to maintain it and take it one step further. This was followed by the presentation of the scenarios.

In the third part the topic was
How to take positive action . It is very important after what has been mentioned about the pollution of the environment, climate change, the harm that man has caused to nature, etc. that we end with something positive, something optimistic.

This is how we learned to create the Corner of good news.
Our team wrote about the Thessaloniki metro and the benefits it will bring to the city when  it starts operating. Of course, everyone expressed the desire to visit Thessaloniki!

FRIDAY 2/8/2024
On the morning of the last day, together with my colleagues from the Czech Republic, we decided to visit the traditional village
of Porvoo , which was recommended to us by our instructor. We took the bus line and in 50 minutes we arrived. Porvoo  is a typical, traditional, Finnish village with colorful  wooden houses next to a river. At the entrance we were greeted by an old but well maintained truck.
We visited the forest area where the castle used to be, the catholic church where the church organ sounded imposingly in the area.

We found ourselves in front of the museum but as it was quite early it was closed.

We toured the village, enjoyed the walk by the river and ended up in a modern restaurant in the new village where we enjoyed traditional Finnish cuisine, a wonderful salmon soup and a dessert.

We returned to Helsinki, had lunch at the
Oodi library , also traditional dishes, and then went to the last lesson.

Divided into our schools, we planned a program that we would like to develop with our students and presented it to the plenary.

Then, divided into mixed groups of three, we got 3 questions from our instructor and went for a walk through the streets of the city to discuss them. It was a nice experience that brought us closer.

The certificates were awarded, we took pictures, laughed, hugged, said goodbye.

We greeted our instructor and left.
So, finishing the seminar and still having enough time, we visited the  Kiasma Museum of Contemporary Art . We said goodbye to the city center and retired to our accommodation.

SATURDAY 3/8/2024
Saturday morning we woke up early enough to get ready for the return trip. Unfortunately the flights didn't fly and we couldn't attend the program's cultural tour on Seurasaari Island which is a protected area.
So we took the tram to the station and from there the train to Vantaa airport.
At noon we returned to Thessaloniki.
It was a beautiful experience where we were informed about many innovative ideas applicable in our school, we received knowledge that we can pass on to our students, we were informed and experienced up close the Finnish culture which is admittedly exemplary, we met European colleagues, we made friends for future collaborations and not only , we practiced our English and hopefully the knowledge and images remain indelible in our memory.

LISBON  15-20 JULY 2024

Attending a seminar on:

"Introducing SustainabilityThrough Game- Based Learning and Gamification"

1st DAY  : Sunday, July 14, 2024

We gathered at the airport "Macedonia" to start  our journey to Lisbon via Istanbul.

During
our stay at the Istanbul airport
and
waiting for the second flight,
the gentlemen of the group wasted no
time in a game of backgammon.

We arrived in the afternoon and made the most of it

good weather for a walk in the city center admiring the characteristic tram 28 and the " Comercio " square where we had dinner.

DAY 2 : Monday, July 15, 2024

Morning-morning, full of positive
mood, we started for the place where the seminar would take place. On our way we found the opportunity to admire the beautiful monuments that adorn the streets of Lisbon.

As soon as we arrived at the seminar premises we were greeted by our instructor, Beatriz Canas Mendes .

The first day was dedicated to some general information about the course. After getting to know the colleagues, each teacher who participated in the seminar made a brief presentation of the school he teaches in and the area he lives in.

The first day ended by identifying the three main pillars of learning: Awareness => action => better results

Our instructor , after suggesting some traditional dishes and places to visit, left us to continue our day exploring Lisbon.

First stop is Restaunadores . A large covered market filled with restaurants that offered traditional food and sweets.

Then we took the boat and crossed to the opposite land, to the Almada area

We admired the wonderful view of Lisbon and the statue of Jesus that dominates the area and returned to the beautiful  Comercio square

DAY 3 : Tuesday, July 16, 2024

He started the lesson with an interesting activity aimed at getting to know the members of a group, the Bingo game , adapted to sustainable development.

Another dating game was the “ FRIENN DIAGRAM ”. B ea gave us a list of questions and in pairs we tried to discover not only the common interests but also the elements that make us different.

After the lessons and after we had lunch,  we decided to visit the Belem fortress

and the museum of

discoveries.

We admired the monastery of Agios Ieronymos with its unique architecture

while in the evening we tried traditional cod and other Portuguese dishes in a traditional tavern in the city center.

DAY 4 : Wednesday, July 17, 2024

Today's lesson started with a game of course. We formed a circle and threw a ball on which were written various personal questions that whoever caught the ball had to answer quickly and quickly. A pleasant introduction game that can also be applied in the classroom.

Next, we identified the necessary framework for designing an educational game.

a game,
as a learning base it must meet specific learning objectives depending on the age and level of the students, the subject and the goals we seek to achieve.

Immediately after we tried to implement the theoretical framework, playing the game, “ Go Goals ”, our well-known Snake, with questions adapted to Sustainability.

Soon after, we moved to the excellent Gulbenkian Park to play “ Goose chase ”, a game of hidden treasure. Divided into three groups and with the use of mobile phones, we tried to implement the missions we had to while simultaneously exploring the space.

Then we had a very nice meeting with Sylvie Marques , responsible teacher of the European KA2 program, in which our school participates.

We had lunch at a traditional restaurant in Rossio Square , tasting excellent Portuguese dishes. Right after we walked in Bairro Alto , we took a photo with the great writer and poet Fernando Pessoa

and we enjoyed our coffee in the Alfama area enjoying the unique view.

DAY 5 : Thursday, July 18, 2024

We started the lesson by pretending to be artists. In one

paper we tried to capture a single feature

of a group member's face. The portrait was complete

another teacher drawing the next feature.

The result was indeed impressive.

He then had a very interesting job. Everyone tried to design their own “ goose chase ”, adapting it to the requirements and goals of their class or school. So with the help of this specific application we decided to utilize it for the needs of Erasmus and thus we planned five missions with the aim of getting to know the foreign students at the monuments of Hortiatis.

After the class was over, we headed to Miraduro Eduardo VII Park where we had lunch. We then toured its lush green grounds.

In the evening we went out for a drink enjoying the evening coolness of the Atlantic in Comercio square .

DAY 6 : Friday, July 19, 2024

Last day of class and we started in an artistic mood... After dividing into pairs, we created works of art with materials available in the room. The aim of this action was to raise public awareness of sustainable development. The result was very interesting indeed.

We then browsed the web for various educational games that can be incorporated into the learning function.

We completed the course by each giving his personal experience through attending the seminar.

It was indeed a very interesting training that helped us to open our educational horizons and to incorporate in the classroom new practices that will stimulate the interest of our students and motivate them to follow the lessons using educational games.

After lunch, we took the train to Cascais, a beautiful seaside resort twenty minutes from Lisbon that attracts many locals and tourists for a dip in the icy waters of the Atlantic and a stroll through the picturesque alleys. A stop for coffee and then back to the hotel to rest.

DAY : July 20, 2024

The day was dedicated to the area of Sintra with its magnificent palaces. Early – early we took the train to Sintra and after touring the beautiful historic center we started the climb to the Pena Palace.  It was a unique route through the palace gardens with dense vegetation and narrow paths that at some points became tiring, since we needed more than an hour to reach the palace.

Our ascent was made difficult by the rain and thick clouds that limited the view.

In the end, however, the palace rewarded us with its unique beauty and unique architecture.

Although tired, we decided to walk back again through the palace gardens. Alas, we took the train to Lisbon again. There we had lunch in a traditional restaurant trying a special “ Bifana ”, something like our own gyro.

Then, after resting, we took a last walk around the city center buying some “ Pastel de Nata ”, the best dessert in Lisbon.

We returned full of beautiful experiences, good practices from experienced European teachers but also pleasant moments from our stay in Lisbon.
